Addressing Some of the Comments From Other Catholic Reviewers of the Film, Cabrini

A Catholic film has been made in Hollywood in 2024 and yet the filmmakers are receiving backlash — from other Catholics. Why Cabrini?
Mother Cabrini was an exceptional nun and is now a saint. We ordinary Catholic women can’t compete with her, nor would we even try, at least I wouldn’t.
If people think of Cabrini as a “feminist” movie, they can’t. Because it was made by men too.
Do they think the film is showing that one woman could do what she did without God? Only God leads such missions and He chose her to carry it out. She’s not being driven by personal ambition, although in the film she is often accused of that by her superiors. O ye of little faith! A true Catholic doesn’t rely on worldy things to succeed. They rely on God.
And secular people don’t need to see her reading a Bible to know that she prays. It’s clear that she is a Catholic nun. Even non-religious people can figure out that God is in her life. It’s a given. They don’t need to witness her in constant intense prayer. If she were deep in prayer throughout the film, most people would leave the theater. Some things are best left in church, not in a movie theater. If theatergoers want to learn more…
